In the Weekly Spotlight
Every week, on Wednesday, LitRecognition (https://www.deviantart.com/litrecognition) will be featuring the last week's Daily Deviations. They are wonderful pieces, and deserve that little extra boost of attention. Take a look-see, and give these wonderful people the Literature Community Love, if you haven't already!

*NO it is NOT a spelling mistake- Critmas means "Critique at Christmas" AKA this awesome event!
:new: Still looking for Captains! Adjudicator positions now all filled!
It's back!
I can't believe somehow for the 9th year running we are launching Critmas again. The past few years it has just grown and grown and each year the expectation fathoms me- I worry it won't work, but the commitment from the community is just astounding.
What is Critmas?
This is a multi formed challenge where the focus is about 2 things. 1. Giving 2. Critique.
The challenge for everyone is to submit at least 12 critiques (that's 1 a day) across the 12 days of Christma
Have you been to one of our Daily Deviation Discussions yet? Here's what you've been missing!
It's nice to discuss nuances which aren't immediately obvious based on one's experience and reading of the piece. - neurotype-on-discord (https://www.deviantart.com/neurotype-on-discord)
Aside from the overall welcoming, and friendly nature of the chat, I enjoyed getting a chance to be exposed to the thought processes that take place, and how other people tend to approach the material they read in real-time, and in general. I also enjoyed discovering what goes on in the writer's mind, which highlights the nature of what goes into a piece of writing, and what is brought to it by a reader, and how both shari

PE: Pricing Your Commissions
Art In Professions
Hello everyone,
Today I'll be discussing how to price your commissions since it's a question that comes up quite often.
If you're an artist who sells commissions you're probably all too familiar with the conundrum of trying to decide what price tags to attach to your art. Perhaps you're an artist who would like to sell commissions but have been so unsure about setting up prices that you've simply avoided selling commissions completely. No matter what, this article will help you price your art in a way that can make both you and your clients happy.
First and foremost it is important to remember that doing commissions for

Lets see shall we?
Team BurpeeThis doesn't mean what you do after drinking too much fizz!
In my pocket was a lie
that burned a hole and clattered down
the artery of a pyromaniac's racing heart
Bleeds cataclysmic tears of her face in the flames
to pool at her feet, where crystaline lilies would grow.
Shivering frail flowers, so shall my inked words flow
Translucent petals, syllables in the moon's cool glow

Since my return to DA, I've been busier here than not. Or moreover, more so than I had since ten years when I first began this journey.
DA had been a tremendous outlet and a safe place to write where less judgment and more appreciation than I could ever hope for.
It's aloud me more freedom and courage to express the random traces that come to mind.
Meeting like minded artists that have helped me find my place and grow. To nurture this little known passion and create a home.
I have small dreams and ideas that have grown and feel closer to reality than ever before.
I've been waiting for that trickle to release the floodgates and find my vo

Reading Literature on DeviantART
Each literature deviation is displayed within a box (there may also be a preview image displayed above it). The first line in this box is always the deviation title, as a first-level heading. The second line has the word "by" followed by the author's username (as a link). The rest of the deviation has been written by the author.
At the top, right-hand corner of a literature deviation, you may see five buttons, depending on the category. These buttons will be my main focus for this part of the tutorial.
(at the moment, I think the categories are a bit buggy - a
