Words flow in my veins
Artist | Literature
Some people have a reason to make art, while for others like myself, art is the ultimate reason. It is a part of me, and it flows out naturally without an apparent purpose.
My art is a way of breathing, and it mostly expresses itself through words.

If you have a particular request, send me a note or leave a comment on this page. I accept commissions of any kind, both in prose and verse, even mature content, and I'm willing to write critiques for literary works, too. The only thing I don't do is fanfiction... Sorry. :toocool:

When I'm online, you can also have a chat with me here.

Like what I write? Please consider donating :points: so that I can keep going...
Hate what I write? Please consider donating the same so that I can find a better job. ;P

Finally, it may be worthwhile to spend a moment to have a look at this.
Personally, it reminds me of the reasons why I decided to join this community. :)

9) If you're lazy, don't do it on comments of this journal

About me:
I'm doing a MA in English and French Literature and Language.
2) I've taught Italian at university in Ireland as part of an internship project and really loved it - I just wish I had more time to explore such a beautiful country.

3) My deep curiosity has made me a jack-of-all-trades: though writing is my main hobby, I tried my luck with clay sculpting, shirt illustration, archery, and took violin lessons in the past. I'm currently studying privately as a tenor during summer holidays.
I tend to know a bit about everything of everyone - including weird facts.
5) I started writing and drawing since I was but a child.

6) I am a quick thinker, and on a good day, I can munch 200 pages in a row.
7) I read a lot, and I like to collect old or unusual books.
8) I use a fountain pen whenever I write on paper, even if it's just note-taking.
9) I love to send my friends some good, old-fashioned letters, and I keep a whole writing set for that.
10) I have a passion for tea, pocket watches, fountain pens, calligraphy, and cats.
11) I am quite knowledgeable when it comes to Gothic Literature, Victorian-era short stories, and vampires.
12) I am a pipe smoker and I enjoy to play chess - possibly combine the two.
13) I have 'Napoleonic' traits: pale skin, dark hair and eyes, kinda petite (but not as much as you'd think), and a strong personality.

Questions to me by FrancescoGiuffrida

1) Favourite historical character?
Napoleone Bonaparte (for obvious, reasons... see above ;P) among others.
2) Favourite fictional character?
As I've read quite a lot & continue to do so, it would be restrictive to name just one... But I'll settle for Frankenstein's monster (oh I wish he had a name - he certainly deserved one) for the purposes of this questionnaire.
3) Why are you replying to this Question Challenge?
Because it helps me kill time I am currently unable to invest better, because I want to prove the friend who tagged me that I actually enjoy silly activities like this :D, and besides, because it's just as good an excuse as another to tell people a little bit more about myself.
4) Which was the worst trip you have ever done?
It was when I went to the Isole Tremiti (a group of islands north the coast of Apulia) with my family, about a year ago. We wanted to try something new, so we chose to arrive there by helicopter. It was an amazing experience, and I really enjoyed my stay there, so destiny decided to balance such a pleasure in one way or another - that's why I soon found myself next to an old man whose personal 'aroma' had tainted the air of the whole cabin on our way home.
5) Do you believe in fate?
I believe in man's ability to shape his own fate. Still, there are some things we cannot influence, and life tends at times to have a really black sense of humour, like in the situation reported above.
6) Art can help to ruin the world (3rd Reich. Propaganda). Why man has the passion to ruin the art, in your opinion?
Because sometimes (most of the time, actually), he thinks art can be bent to other, unproper or unethical - I firmly believe in Wilde's 'art for art's sake' principle - purposes.
7) The strangest thing that happened to you
Being obsessively asked out by a girl I had just barely looked at in one poetry competition, being mistaken for a high school teen before I decided to grow a moustache, being mistaken for a PhD student while I was 22 and sitting in the back of the room doodling
during a lecture because I actually knew how to read Dante, being periodically greeted by complete strangers... Take your pick: I could go on and on.
8) Plans for the future?
Get my MA, go for a PhD, start publishing my scribblings, manage to set my foot into the job of literary translation, having a stable relationship with either a girl or my ego, maybe spend my time in more remunerative ways other than lurking around this site and writing decent pieces no one would pay a penny for... You choose in which order.
9) Favourite book genre?
17th century French libertine literature, 19th century gothic and mystery fiction, 'contemporary' classics from the likes of Proust to Mishima.
10) Do you play an instrument?
Used to play the violin, then my own voice... Damn university screwed it all. But I am still rather good at making a variety of noises to get the attention of people on my not-so-imposing figure.
11) The worst film that you have ever seen
A D grade, self-produced 'film' where one man was knocked down by a gun literally 'rubbed' on his face.
12) Do you like movies with a lot of CGI/VFX? If so, what is your favorite?
I am generally not fond of 'whoa'-special-effects productions, though I like the X-Men series and The Lord of The Rings because I'm emotionally attached to them.
13) If you believe in fate: do you like your fate or are you fighting with it? If you do not believe in fate answer "i'm free!"
I've lately come to the conclusion that perhaps my fate and I tolerate each other, from time to time.

My questions to my tagged ones

1) Did you actually read through all my answers to this post?
2) If so, what held you from doing better things and calling the 911 for a 'mental sanity check' on its author?
3) Do you appreciate irony? Do you think it's worthwhile or pointless?
4) What does art mean to you, and do you believe in its power to make the world a better place?
5) What's your favourite form of art AND your preferred one? (They don't necessarily coincide).
6) How did you first get in touch with whavever art you do?
7) From what do you usually get your inspiration?
8) Do you see your art as a hobby, or do you hope to do something more with it?
9) What do you do in life? (study, work, ponder over your existence, etc.) - and/or your hobbies, if any.
10) Plans for the future?

11) What's the strangest thing that happened to you?
Name any weird, strange or unusual things you like or dislike.
13) Last but not least... Chaos or order?

Journal History

Buongiorno gente! Good morning Vietnam ehm... People! Per chi non lo sapesse, oggi è il mio compleanno (ora però lo sapete). For those of you who don't know, today is my birthday (so now you know). ;P
Immagino vi starete chiedendo: "Come festeggerai?"
Ebbene, niente. Perché proprio oggi mi hanno "regalato" un bell'esame scritto!  Bella la vita, eh?
You may wonder: 'How are you going to celebrate?'
Well, nought. Because on this very day, I've been gifted with a wonderful written exam! o.O Oh, the good things in life... :D
Ma se volete davvero allietarmi la giornata, passate di qui a farmi gli auguri!
But if you really want to make my day, stop by and wish me happy! :)
I've come up with an idea lately.
I've been thinking to put my personal thoughts about writing into a series of journal entries, with the aim and hope to help fellow writers of this community. I have no academic training in creative writing, and what I'd share would come mainly from my own experience. I've been into literature both as a reader and a writer since I was a kid, never completely stopped, and I've tried different approaches until I finally seemed to have found my way of embracing what I call 'my inner way of outward expression'. So please take anything I say for what it's worth: I wouldn't define myself neither a professional nor a newbie in the field. Anyways, I really don't care about labels in general. In the end, what matters to me is this: if you happen to find my 'insights' useful, I'll be a happy man. Of course, I'm open to debate or feedback, as long as it is intelligent, polite, and respectful.
So, if you think you might be interested, stay tuned. :)
Good morning, folks!
I'd like to ask fellow artists visiting my profile a small favor: I'm currently searching for English/French native speakers with a passion for literature to give me feedback on my works in the relative tongue. They're just a small part in my gallery right now (have a look if you're curious ;) ), but I'll post more as soon as I write them.
The important thing is, dear readers, that I need your feedback to understand how does an English or French reader feel about them, so that I can aim for better fine-tuned translations. Indeed, I'd prefer if possible to emphasize the overall emotion a text gives rather than sticking too much on the words per se.
Anyone interested can write me a note or comment. Thanks for your help, and have a nice day! :D
I'm byronycal, and I'm a #NewDeviant. Here's a bit about me:

Hi folks, new guy... As you may have noticed from the scribblings inside my gallery, writing is my thing... I was a very curious kid, and I think I never actually grew up, deep inside. :P This means that I experimented with different kinds of art, even though literature remains my favourite, and also that I'm quite open to mix my skills with those of other Deviants here. So be a gent & stop by my profile to say hello! It's still in progress and pretty much a mess, but I'd appreciate any comments/suggestions/ideas you might have. Thanks a lot! :D
